Fit Incentives

The government designed Feed-in Tariff (FIT) is a revolution in green energy, giving you generous and tax-free incentive payments that reward you for generating green power.

8-10% tax free

FIT pays you for every unit of electricity you generate, even if you use all of that electricity yourself. The incentive can be enjoyed by homeowners, landlords, tenants, businesses, schools, hospitals, farmers or solar investors. Typical investment returns are currrently 8-10% per year - tax free. You also sell any surplus you do not need back to the grid. It all makes solar power an exceptional financial opportunity:

• A tax-free payment of 21p for every unit you generate (systems up to 4kW
• Lower electricity bills – you don’t pay for any solar electricity you use
• An additional ‘export’ payment of 3.1p for every unit you sell to the grid.

Guaranteed and index linked

When your new system is registered, your own property’s tax-free FIT tariff is guaranteed for the next 25 years. If you want to move house in that time, solar systems are now proving a very attractive proposition to house buyers.

Your tariff is also index-linked, so payments will rise with inflation each year. The money behind FIT comes from the main energy suppliers in the UK, funded by charges on normal bills. The free electricity available to you is in addition to all of this. And, of course, it represents valuable protection against future fuel price rises.
