CO2 Savings

Climate change is one of the biggest challenges of the 21st century. Everyone needs to play an active part in cutting emissions of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide (CO2).

A lot of the electricity used in the UK is generated from coal, which is the worst of all sources of CO2 (for example, coal produces around twice the emissions of gas). Such a significant use of coal means that solar power is especially important in the UK. Every unit of solar power you generate stops more CO2 being emitted from a coal-fired station.

The photovoltaic (PV) panels used by Your Power create electricity directly from sunlight, without releasing any harmful pollutants into the atmosphere. A small home system saves roughly 1,000kg (a tonne) of CO2 every year, as well as giving you very generous financial returns.

A tonne of CO2 is enough, on average, to run your dishwasher, do your ironing, make your toast, heat the oven, dry your hair, do some vacuuming, watch TV, use the hi-fi, charge several mobile phones and switch on the electric blanket – all with a lot left over.
