Installation Process
Installing a solar system involves very little disruption, and most of the work is carried out externally. The main steps of a typical installation are shown below – do please let us know if you have any questions.
- Scaffold is erected, usually the day before installation starts
- A few tiles are temporarily removed to reveal the load-bearing rafters
- Principal fixtures (‘roof hooks’) are attached to the rafters
- The tiles are replaced
- Mounting rails are attached to the roof hooks and aligned
- The solar panels are attached to the rails and connected electrically to each other
- The inverter is placed where we have agreed, usually in the loft-space or another convenient location
- An AC isolator and an energy generation meter are put next to your main consumer unit
- Your new panels are connected to the inverter
- The system is inspected, tested and labelled before being commissioned
- We run through system features and operation with you
- Scaffold is removed as soon as possible, usually the next day
