Your Power Establish Bristol Solar Group

Jamie O'Nians, Managing Director of Your Power, has sparked the initiative to create the Bristol Solar Group, in conjunction with Bristol Green Capital.               

The group's vision is to make Bristol the exemplary green city in the UK by generating up to 1.9GW of solar PV. Bristol Solar Group will provide a valuable platform for the gathering of knowledge and for the sharing of information. The group aim to come up with innovative financial strategies, and even propose entrepreneurial initiatives.

Bristol Solar Group believe that they can significantly boost the profile of solar PV technology to heighten the public's awareness of its potential, and to articulate the environmental impact that continuous reliance on fossil fuels will have. They aim to make Bristol entirely at home with the idea and the technology behind PV so that it becomes the model green city for others to follow.

In addition to the increased environmental awareness of the community, Bristol Solar Group also hope to aid the local economy. In 2010, the government introduced the Feed-In Tariff, which offered renewable system owners a revenue stream for generating their own energy, at a rate guaranteed to be maintained for 25 years. Solar PV can provide a significant source of revenue for 25 years. The Bristol Solar Group are intending to support this in order to benefit the local economy as well as reduce Bristol’s carbon emissions.
