Mr & Mrs Stott - 3.96kW

Gus and Nancy Stott are aged 46 and 47 respectively and live in Haverfordwest. Gus is in the building trade and Nancy works in publishing. They had the solar photovoltaics installed in December 2010.

Gus said:

"I had seen solar PV in the course of a project I worked on as I am a builder by trade. I knew a little bit about how it worked and I came across the Feed in Tariff payments in the media. I decided to turn my knowledge into action when I found out neighbours were considering having it installed and became more interested. Paul Cowley from Your Power came to give a talk to a group of residents.

"This gave me the impetus as it was not pressurised and gave me the incentive to do something. It was good having other residents at the talk, as they could cover aspects and ask questions that I wouldn’t have thought of. The attractive thing about using Your Power was the information delivery. There are often two people in a household so they both need to have the information delivered in an easy to understand way.

"When Your Power installed the system it wasn’t disruptive. It’s a crisp process, getting the panels on and then getting the electrical installation done. The system is very easy to use. If you want to look at it in more detail you can do that too. You do become quite interested in seeing how much electricity you have generated.  At the end of sunny day it is exciting to see you have generated more than £7. You are also aware you are doing your bit for the environment.

"I have generated over 600 kWh over part of December, January February and March, which is more than £240. I expect over the next few months it will be a lot more when there are more hours of daylight. The financial benefit is the bit that convinces you this is a good idea."
