Mr & Mrs Hindle - 3.825kW

Mr and Mrs Hindle are in their seventies and live in Frenchay, Bristol. Their property is a 1930s bungalow, with a south west facing roof and a 30 degree pitch, very well suited for solar energy. Mr Hindle, a retired engineer, was keen to take advantage of the government-created Feed In Tariff:

"I decided to have solar PV installed as it is a very good investment. I initially read information about it, but was quite slow in taking it up as the government scheme started back in April 2010."

The new photovoltaic system was installed in August 2010. Implementation went very smoothly. It involved fixing the solar panels on the roof of their home and fitting a small new electrical installation, so that they could generate and use their own electricity.

"The Feed In Tariff has worked precisely how I expected, however it did take six weeks before I received my first cheque. We get paid once a quarter for the electricity we generate from our solar PV system. I have now just sent off a reading for the second quarter. For the first Quarter we received a payment of £165. We’re expecting this to be the lowest quarter and these payments will increase over the summer.

"I am really happy we had solar PV installed. It is so simple and straight forward to use. I have already recommended to my friends solar PV, and Your Power as the installer to use."
